I’ve been an art teacher, a bartender, and a book publicist; I’ve taught childbirth education to expectant parents and magazine writing to journalism undergrads. As my checkered background indicates, I’ve got the perfect temperament for a writer: I’m curious about everything.
After nearly 13 years as a University of Iowa writer and editor, I’m freelancing fulltime. While I specialize in writing and photography for craft, art, and textile-related publications and blogs, I also write for and edit publications that cover topics ranging from historic cookbooks to digital archiving to children’s hearing loss.
I’m fascinated by people’s passions and I’ve never written a profile I didn’t enjoy. I am constantly inspired by the work I encounter and the people I get to know through my writing.
